March 1, 2020

This was our first time attending TES Conference and we're definitely coming back!   In hindsight, it turned out to be the last event we attended before the whole world went on quarantine due to COVID-19 Coronavirus.   The organizers shared that 20% of attendees canceled last minute, but nevertheless, TES was a great event for us.

TES was originally created for the entertainment & gaming industries, but in recent years - there's been a shift, with more and more companies going mainstream.   At MaxWeb affiliate network we're never going to run gaming, adult or forex, but we drive lots of quality traffic to mainstream dating, e-commerce and nutraceuticals offers.

Portugal is a great country, with friendly people, amazing food and breathtaking sceneries. Arriving a day early gave our team a chance to adjust to the local timezone and discover the city of Cascais where the conference was held.

Day 1

TES conference has three parts: a) Networking b) Exhibitor hall, and c) Sessions.

Most people attend TES for the networking. At any given time, there were dozens of people taking shop at the bar or enjoying the great weather outside. The exhibitor hall had a unique vibe to it - no traditional booths, but rather all exhibitors sharing the same open space, with sofas and simple rollups next to each stand. Lastly, there were 2-4 speaker sessions going on at the same time, giving everyone a chance to pick the talks most interesting to them.

We spent the first two hours taking it all in, then proceeded to the prescheduled meetings we setup in advance. While its important to keep open blocks of time on the schedule, we find that its always best to schedule 5-10 meetings in advance.

Day 2

The second day started with Anna Gita giving a presentation at the main conference room, sharing a comprehensive list of top productivity tools that our best traffic partners and superaffiliates use.

Several people reached out at the end of the talk, asking questions and setting up follow-up calls. It was a big success!

TES didn't record a video, but you can access the full presentation slidedeck here:

Our Canadian friend and renowned speaker Jason Hunt from Merged Media, was in the audience and followed our talk, with a presentation about Facebook marketing.

We finished the day meeting with our longtime clients from LionPublishing, enjoying a local Italian restaurant that served the best pizza we ever tasted!   The name of the place is Pizzaria Lambretazzurra, be sure to check it out when you're in town.

Day 3

Third day was light, with many people flying out in the morning.

We took the time to hit every single exhibitor, making sure we don't leave any stone unturned.   Its important not to have any preconceived notions about which company may or may not be a good fit for your business.

Several companies that we never would have imagined, ended up signing up for MaxWeb and we're already seeing good results.

TES Conference is planning another event at the end of the year in the great city of Prague. Assuming the Coronavirus situation passes by then, we're definitely going to be there!
